SYRACUSE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
5TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

The Syracuse International Film Festival returns for its 5th consecutive year from April 25 to May 4, 2008. The annual event will showcase over 120 international, independent films including features, short-films, documentaries, experimental and animations.

Festival special guests this year include Stephen Baldwin, who will be in attendance to answer questions about his film, The Flyboys (screening Friday, April 25 at the Palace Theater in Eastwood at 7pm). SYRFILM Fest is currently anticipating over 60 filmmaker guests from around the world.  Those who have already reserved accommodations at the Renaissance Syracuse Hotel include: award winning Czech actress/music sensation Iva Bittova (Little Girl Blue) ; Academy award winning director, Moshe Mizrahi (Madame Rosa, Every Time We Say Goodbye and Weekend In Galilee);  Italian screenwriter/actor, Paolo Sassanelli (Red Like the Sky); actor Luca Capriotti (Red Like the Sky); Russian actor, Slava Ross (Fat, Stupid Rabbit) and  Eugene Zykov, Russian film producer and distributor.

In addition to the film screenings, the festival also includes seminars and panel discussions and numerous free public events, including the Drive In Theater in Armory Square; the Kids Programs on Saturday, May 3 at the Bristol IMAX Omni Theater at the MOST; and Coffee With a Filmmaker (Saturday, May 2).

The schedule of film screenings and the complete list of films selected can be found on this website under 2008 FILMS. As in past years, the lineup includes something for fans of every genre, including drama, comedy and horror.

Films will be shown at venues throughout the city of Syracuse, including The Everson Museum, The Landmark Theatre, The Palace Theater, The RedHouse., The Hotel Syracuse, The Bristol IMAX Omni Theater at the MOST, The Delavan Center, and the Center 4 the Performing Arts on East Genesee Street. The Delavan Center and the Center 4 the Performing Arts are venues new to the 2008 festival.

Tickets for most festival screenings are $8 ($6 for seniors and students) and a full festival pass to include all screenings and events is $125 ($110 for seniors and students.)  Special event tickets (World Cinema, Jazz/Film and the American Express Heritage Series programs) are $15 ($10 for seniors and students.)
